We just got back from our first cruise which was incredible! We almost had to cancel last minute due to Brodrick getting a cold and his Pericarditis acting up again, but we went anyways and we're glad we did!

We met up with Judy and Evan on Sunday afternoon and rode with them down to Galveston. We met up with Donnie and Angela Wheat, who were also staying at the Harbor.
The six of us went to Fisherman's Wharf for dinner (I had the best fillet Mignon I had ever had-then again it was the first time I've eaten it). We then spent the evening hanging out and playing card games. Monday morning we walked around town a bit and then we met up with James and Lisa who were also going on the cruise with us. After a somewhat long process, we finally boarded the Carnival Triumph and enjoyed a wonderful lunch buffet that consisted of pretty much every possible type of food.

Tuesday evening was the formal dinner and also happened to be mine and Brodrick's 3rd anniversary. Our cruise companions surprised us at dinner with a vase of roses, chocolate covered cherries (Brodrick actually shared those with me!) and a delicious heart shaped cake (followed by the waiters singing happy anniversary to us). It was the perfect anniversary!

The rest of the week was filled with relaxing, games, trivia, shows, comedy, swimming, and tons and tons of food! Brodrick and I (I especially) really appreciated having a room with a balcony. In fact, the 8 of us all had balcony rooms all in a row which was really nice. We spent quite a bit of time relaxing on the balcony, or just leaving the door open so that we could listen to the waves. Something else that made this trip pretty awesome was Judy and Evan had thought to bring walkie talkies so that each couple have one to use. These came in very handy and also provided us with great entertainment throughout the week. I did end up sick (with a cold) most of the week, but I can't think of a better place to be than on a ship where you've got crew members doing all of the cooking and cleaning for you. Brodrick and I never got seasick, but we did feel dizzy and off balance a couple days due to rough waters.
(Hurricane Rita was heading in the same path as we were so we had to change the order of our ports) We went to Cozumel first and then we went to Progresso.

We all got off the boat in Progresso, but only long enough to walk through a few of the tourist shops. We would have liked to go further into the city, but the line for the buses was way to long, so we decided to enjoy the emptiness of the cruise ship :)

We arrived back in Galveston on Saturday morning and said goodbye to our cruising companions. Us and Judy and Evan then decided to go ahead and stay 1 more night in Galveston. We stayed at the Inn At The Waterpark, which was a really nice hotel (not on the beach, but would definitely stay there again). We then spent the day driving around, built a little sandcastle and did a little offroading on the beach and over some sand dunes. It was tons of fun, but we did get stuck and ended up having to call a tow truck. While waiting for the tow truck, Judy and I had a blast walking the beach, playing in the water a bit (though it was pretty cold) and looking for seashells. That evening we ate dinner at The Mosquito Cafe (awesome corn chowder!!) and I'm pretty sure we would all be up for going back there one day. On Sunday morning, we packed up and headed for home. It was a wonderful vacation and my only complaint would be that it went by too fast!
